Finished Product!!

Recently my gorgeous sister in law Yolande was here in Aus, she is a crafty person just like me! We were inspired to make some babushka type dolls during the time she was here. Esther, my daughter, put her thoughts in as to the fact that they had to fit inside each other being babushkas and if they didnt then that just wasn't right! So I came up with this cute pattern and have been really lucky to have lots of Jodies left over bits of tablecloth edges and old doilies etc to use on them.

These are all made from recycled, upcycled, gifted, or thrifted fabrics, doilies and bits and pieces, very eco friendly!!

I have made them for the craft stall Jodie & I are having.

Happy Faces Everywhere!

And they don't belong to my kids! Unfortunately my 2 boys have come down with an extremely nasty flu this week and I have been at house bound BUT on the upside it has given me an opportunity to do some much needed sewing. Jodie and I are having a craft stall in October, it is going to be so much fun. Have a look here at some of the lovelies that Jodie is making.

I am making some very special dolls, my own design and here is a look at the faces I have been stitching. Such happy little, rosy cheeked cherubs!

Stay tuned for a look at the finished product.

With a button on top!

Well here is what I have been doing. Anyone who know me will know I have always been a crafter of some sort. I simply love fabrics, lace and all haberdashery bits and pieces, basically anything I can hoard (much to my husbands disgust!). I have been collecting doilys, tablecloths, beautiful handstitched vintage linen and chenille bedspreads.

Lately I have been very inspired by Jodies doily flowers and have been sewing up a storm, so much so that I have opened my own Etsy shop its called "With a button on top". I didn't realise how much I missed sewing until I got the machine out and started again, now it is set up in the loungeroom with not much sign of being put away any time soon!

Here I will add a big "MWAH" to my lovely buddy Jodie for her help with coloured doilies and bits and pieces, she is an inspiration to be around! YAY for Jodie!!!!

Now this doesn't mean I am over scrapping, ah ah no way! I'm still going to be doing that too, ah busy busy busy over here. So without further ado, here is a few of the lovely things I have been creating and please go over the my etsy shop and have a look at the rest of my goodies and please tell all your friends!!

Cupcake Pincushions

Cushion Covers

I have many ideas to add to the list of yummy things for sale, so keep your eyes peeled for additions to the menu!

cheers for now

Forgive Me Bloggers for I have not posted.....

Well don't fall over but I'm back! I have been very busy starting work and doing kids and other things coming up. I also have another project on the go but more about that in another post.

I have had a bit of scrapping time so I have done this layout for my Sisters Scrapwrecks challenge blog. Thanks for this one must go to my inspirational, doily flower making buddy Jodie. Jodie showed me how to make the gorgeous patchwork and modpodge background, how to make the organza flowers and I used some of her lacey trims too. WOW now thats one very talented lady! If you want to know how to do this background, check out this months Scrapbooking Memories mag, Jodie has a step by step on how to do it in there.

Also on here are a set of wings that I won from Arby, I love them Thanks Arby!!
cheers all

Scrapbook Memories Masters No 1

Oh so busy around here but I thought it was probably time to post my Masters entries here for the world to see. I was very happy with my entry, I found I was creatively challenged and made the most of it!! I was absolutely stoked to get into the Top 50 and am also stoked to have got a HM for my mystery item.

Greatest Achievement

This is one is about marriage. Daz & I have been married for 12 years now and I think that is a fantastic achievement! We have had our ups and downs but all in all we are pretty rock solid.

I love this photo of us, it is lovely and romantic, (those of you who know Daryl will know it is a rarity!!)

I made this little book to contain the journalling. The cover is felt which I glued to bazil and then ran thru the cuttlebug to emboss it. It came out really well.

There are so many things in this layout I love like the handmade organza flowers, doves, nest, book, butterfly, lace etc. I had heaps of fun making it, it took hours and in the end I had to do it twice! as I spilt a cup of coffee all over it when it was almost complete. I didn't give up though, I came home and found all the bits and started again, luckily my scrappy friend Vikki had some of the papers as they were old stock.

It is taking ages to load pics tonight so I will show you all some more tomorrow.
Hope you like the pics
cheers

Get Wrecked!!

One lovely scrap night 8 friends were all sitting around laughing about old techniques and how our scrap styles have evolved and grown since we started scrapping. From this chatter came Scrapwrecks!

Scrapwrecks is a new challenge blog thats just for FUN. Somewhere we can post those old, "ready for renovation" layouts and techniques and have a good laugh. And who know maybe digging out those old layouts will give us all some more inspiration to use old techniques in a brand new way!

For January there is a RAK prize that I have donated, its full of chipboard, flowers, felt, brads and other yummy things, so get on over to Scrapwrecks, have a look at the challenge for January and join in the fun.

Don't forget to tell all your friends so they can join in too!!!

What Is Old Is New Sketch Challenge November

I feel like I haven't posted a lo in ages! I have done a few things but they have been for DTs so I haven't been able to post them up as yet. I had a little operation this week and have been "lounge bound", the only thing I have been able to do is handstitch, so I came up with these lovely pinwheel flowers, if you look closely you will see little crystal beads around the edges of some of them. They took me hours to stitch lying down on the couch!! it was alot of fun though!! The organza ones are handmade too, my lovely buddy Jodie showed me how to make them.

Cheers for now

Aussie Scrapjack for October

Here's my take on one of the many gorgeous Jacks for October. I chose this one as it was way different from my usual style. I had fun playing with paint and watercolour pencils, and it was very quick to do.

Here is the original layout by Mel Nunn:

and here is my Jack of it:

Mine is alot busier, I did get a bit carried away with the paint!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Arrrrrggggg! I can't find my desk

or anything else for that matter! Why does my scrap spot always look like this? and why do my ribbons keep getting all mixed up? I'm sure there is a naughty scrap fairy who creeps in here at night just to mix up my stuff! I think I need help!!

To say that I'm a messy scrapper is an understatement (just ask the girls I scrap with how many things I loose each time we get together). I have so many things on the go and tidying up so I can work just doesn't fit in (sigh). Much to Daryls' disgust I am slowly moving things into the front room hehehe! Last time I did that it lasted about 2 months before I got notice to leave or my stuff was going out onto the verge for the rubbish pick up!!

cheers for now xx

Woo Hoo I made the Top 50!

Yay I'm very happy to say I made the top 50 Scrapbooking Memories Masters list! I feel very honoured to have been chosen, there are alot of fab scrappers in that list and I am delighted to have been included. Congratulations to everyone who made the top 50!! WOW

Now the waiting begins, cross all your fingers and toes for me!

Bye for now

Cupcake Yum

I was blog surfing the other day and came across this gorgeous cupcake card, you pull the cherry on top and out comes the tag to write on. I found it on Ingvild Bolmes' blog. WOW her stuff is beautiful, and her cupcakes are stunning! She is a dt member for Prima so need I say more! She put together a fantastic tutorial on how to make the cupcakes. This is my first which came out quite cute. It took about 3hrs to make so if you're into quick cards then this isnt the way to go lol. Anyway the kids want them for their teachers for Christmas pressies, phew thats going to take a while!
cheers

What is Old is New Sketch Challenge October

Hi all, I went scrapping at my buddy Pippas' house last week and I did the WIOIN sketch challenge for October.

This is the sketch:

and this is my interpretation:

This is my 7yo dressed up for bookweek as an American Indian. Its a big event at our school each year and even though it is alot of fun getting them organised, it does take a bit of preparation. This year was quite easy, luckily, as I am very busy with TAFE and other things!

Bye for now

Aussie Scrapjack for September

We are going to Esperance tomorrow so I was on a mission to finish my Scrapjack. I was really puzzled over this one, and then I was looking through Esthers' latest art book and there is a pic of a tree with these words of 9yo wisdom just waiting for me!

The Tree of Life
As you go through life there will be lots of dead ends,
There will be lots of things to unjumble,
But remember to always be HAPPY!

I think she is way older than her years!!

See those tiny doilies? Lucky me, I went to visit my lovely bud Jodie the other day and she gave me a bag full of tiny dyed doilies, I'm just so lucky! Have a look on Jodies' blog creativity and love , Jodie is giving a whole heap of her beautiful hand made embellishments away this week, so just go on over there and leave a comment so you can be in the draw!

Keep safe on your holidays!

White with 1 Challenge Blog

Oh YAY, I made it onto the White with 1 Challenge Blog Creative Team, I am really stoked! My first creative team WOW! I am really chuffed to be included in with such talented scrappers including my very own scrap buddy Pippa! Have a look and see who else is on the team!

Here are the layouts I put in:

White with Pink and no flowers! Phew this was a challenge! but here is Hudson with his latest fancy - Grace. We went to our scrapping group last week for the first time all term since I have been at TAFE, when I went to get him from the creche he came running up saying "Mummy can I play at Grace's house cause I LOVE HER". How cute!

White with Yellow and Flourishes -This is another one of Hudson with his gorgeous cousin Kady. Unfortunately for us Daryl's sister Yoland, her husband David and kids Jai and Kady live in the UK so we only get to see them every couple of years. Kady and Hudson are only 6 weeks apart so when they get together they have a ball.

So thats my big news and I hope you will all enter the challenges over at White with 1!
cheers from one happy camper!!

The sign on the teddy says "Biggest Smile" but I'm not sure if it was for the Teddy or for Hudson!!
